Will It Be Goodbye Forever? Navigating Consumer Requests to Delete Personal Data

Consumer requests to delete data are on the rise, aided by growing use of automated services like Revoke and DeleteMe to submit privacy rights demands to companies. With California, Colorado and Virginia privacy laws coming into effect in 2023, differences between the laws on deletion present compliance complications. This article provides insights and tips from Blank Rome lawyers on how businesses should handle these requests, communicate to consumers and service providers about deletion, update their data inventories and verify the requests sent by bots.
