GDPR Provides Model for Privacy and Security Laws in Latin America and Asia (Part One of Two)

Latin America and Asia are taking their cues from the E.U. regime as they enact new data protection laws or amend existing ones. A recent WilmerHale webinar provided a comprehensive overview of the key provisions of those laws. The program featured WilmerHale partner D. Reed Freeman, Jr. and senior associate Nicole Ewart. This article, the first of two, identifies security laws in both regions that have not garnered much attention and covers the portions of the program concerning developments in Latin America.
