FTC and ICO Commissioners Discuss the Problems With Pandemic Tech and Their Enforcement Approaches

The role technology will play in return-to-work plans has put a new burden on data privacy authorities – regulating apps designed to keep people safe during and after a pandemic by monitoring movement. At the recent Privacy + Security Academy, FTC Commissioner Christine Wilson and ICO Commissioner Elizabeth Denham separately discussed, in their individual capacities, how they view their agencies’ roles in pandemic-era enforcement and regulation, and their current efforts.
