Balancing Privacy Rights and Innovation in Digital Contact Tracing

As governments and companies try to ease COVID-19 lockdown measures safely, new digital contact-tracing technologies have emerged as a potential solution for managing the transition. In this guest article, Eversheds Sutherland partner Charlotte Walker-Osborn and senior associate Rebecca Sherry discuss the tension between privacy and technological advancement in the context of the emerging use of contact-tracing apps, such as the ones developed by Apple and Google that are currently being used by Ireland’s and Germany’s governments.
