Ten Tips for Fighting Breaches Like Fires

What can an international oil well firefighter teach us about preventing and containing data breaches? Using his U.S and U.K. breach response and prevention experiences, Cordery partner Jonathan Armstrong drew parallels between the techniques used by famed firefighter Paul Neal “Red” Adair and best practices for mitigating the chance of, and damage from, data breaches. We distill his advice, given at a session at the recent SCCE Ethics and Compliance Institute, into ten practical tips for breach prevention and response in the remote environment.
