6. FTC Cases Highlight Evolving Regulatory Expectations in the Use of Multi-Factor Authentication

The FTC has joined the drumbeat of several other government agencies in highlighting the importance of adopting the latest multi-factor authentication (MFA) methods in preventing hackers from compromising the personal information of customers, employees and third parties. In this article, we examined three FTC settlements and discussed how they highlight the Commission’s evolving MFA expectations. The article further explored phishing-resistant MFA, how it differs from legacy MFA practices and best practices for implementation.
