NYC AI Audit Law Series

Since the novel audit requirement in New York City’s AI transparency law took effect in July 2023, very few companies have published the required bias audit, according to several lawyers and auditors. Their tips and our own searches uncovered five employers’ audits of their AI use for hiring and other employment decisions. The first article in a two-part series about this leading AI regulation broke down the divergent approaches of these five landmark audits and explained interpretations that companies may use to avoid publishing one. The second article offered companies several helpful steps for meeting the law’s obligations, spanning the process from using the AI tool for hiring to avoiding enforcement.
