Emerging Cyber Threats and Defenses

In a threat landscape that is continually evolving, growing and more complex, cyber adversaries are taking advantage of the depth of impact they can have by targeting one organization and affecting many. Defenders must now seek visibility across an ever-expanding technical ecosystem, said Geoff Brown, senior vice president at Arete, who led a recent program on emerging cyber threats at Fordham’s International Conference on Cyber Security 2024. This article distills insights offered by Brown and other cybersecurity professionals regarding risks associated with ransomware, cloud computing, AI, supply chain vulnerabilities and nation state actors, as well as strategies to mitigate cyber threats.
