Financial Services 2024 Privacy, Cybersecurity and AI Regulation Overview

The pace of legislation and regulation concerning privacy, cybersecurity and AI has been relentless. While the Cybersecurity Law Report has and will continue to address new laws and guidance in depth, this article is intended to serve as an overview of key developments in the financial sector. Based on a recent Ballard Spahr program, which included some practical insights on keeping up with the dynamic landscape, this article highlights amendments to the FTC’s Safeguards Rule, the SEC’s cyber risk management and incident reporting regime, New York’s amended cybersecurity regulation, a proposed rule on personal financial data rights, and AI regulation and guidance.
